Jelena Ostapenko, Unseeded Latvian, Rallies to Win French Open

'I didn't know of Jelena Ostapenko before today, but this headline reminded me of something EVERYONE here must remember'

Today, this unknown woman from the tiny country of Latvia became the 1st unseeded player to win the French Women's Open.

'Unseeded' is a tennis term to mean a player (considered by the organizers) to be of lesser skill.

Since they're not big names, such players are usually overlooked by the media and given less preference in the fixtures because their names won't sell many tickets.

Once in a while however, an unknown underdog causes an upset and reminds the entire sporting world of the meaning of 'unseeded'.

Maybe this is where you are now - UNSEEDED.

Understand that the 'seed' rankings are done by mortal humans who are limited by their mortal senses.

Can they see your future?
Do they know your past?
Have they seen your dreams?

Were they there with you in the dead of night when God dropped the idea in your heart?
Maybe through modern science they can measure speed and agility. They could measure your GPA, but can they measure desire? Can they measure willpower? Can they measure endurance?

Are they God? Who are they to anoint anyone king?

Do not concern yourself with the machinations of mortal men.

Stay on your craft day and night.

JUST WIN... and the New York Times too will learn to spell your last name.

The many colours of success

Many Colours of Success We live in a world where money literally means success, where assumptions overrule certainties and stereotyped beliefs instill fears in people. It's a great thing to dream, hope and fantasize, but to what end? Dreams, especially for the undisciplined is a waste of time because it will shift with circumstances and will most likely remain a dream till such person dies, which makes the mortuary the wealthiest abode in human existence. Hope on the other hand is futile without realistic hard work, can be narrowed depending on the size of the expectations but with a recent cliché that most people have adopted which says "expectations bring disappointment"... I wonder what this means. What is success? Outstanding performance at an examination? Marriage at the end of a long courtship? Pregnancy after a long wait? Victory at a highly competitive pitch? Victory at the polls as a politician? Hitting the jackpot at a lotto? Lifting the trophy as a c
