America's Richest Self-Made Women

F orbes’ second annual definitive tally of America’s wealthiest, most successful self-made women includes 60 trailblazers – 10 more than last year – who have crashed ceilings through invention and innovation. These women, who are worth a combined $53 billion, have created some of the nation’s best known brands, such as Gap, Spanx, Proactiv and Vera Bradley. A number of them have also helped build some of the most successful companies in tech,  including Facebook, eBay and Google, while still others got rich entertaining millions through their music, books or TV shows. The richest self-made woman in America is  Diane Hendricks , who owns ABC Supply, the largest wholesale distributor of roofing and siding in the country. The daughter of dairy farmers, she started the Wisconsin business in 1982 with her late husband Ken. Today Hendricks is worth $4.9 billion, $1.2 billion more than last year when she came in second. That jump also gives her bragging rights as the year’s biggest ga

The UNIVERSE does not operate on NIGERIAN TIME

What Happens When You Miss The Sunrise? Wait Another Day? In the words of Chika Gwen, ' never go late to anywhere in the world' _____________________________ 1 month before I travel, I am already packing I am already weighing my bags, I have booked hotel, airline tickets, health insurance, my passport is renewed even before I have a plan to travel. All this last minute something is not me. When I am in Lagos, I like to leave hours before my scheduled ANYTHING. I don't care if there is never traffic at that time, I don't care if the venue will be closed, if I arrive early. You don't understand. If I ever fail, it will never be because I did not do my best _____________________________ Every time I have flown by myself, I have arrived at least 6 hours before my flight. Yes o, I will sit at the airport, uncomfortable seats, but if I miss my flight it will not be because I was late. Every time I have flown with others, I have lie

Cold People

cold people One of the first things I noticed about Lagos was the cold - not the harmattan or the rains, but cold people. You might not notice it if you've been here all your life. However, I lived in Ibusa, Asaba, Ogbomosho, Port Harcourt and Benin City before coming here and the difference in emotional climates was interesting to note. People are always busy, brusque and on the move. Always frowning because smiles are somehow deemed a weakness. If you smiled too much, those mainland 4 ... 19 boys and pickpockets would see you as an easy target, and so everyone walks around with their bulletproof armour. More noteworthy (especially among the upper middle class) is how people tried to use other people as ladders so they could discard them as soon as they'd gotten to the next 'helper'. The consequence of this culture is the pervasive unhappiness that no one talks about. Behind the pretty makeup, wigs, designer bags and business suits, people have lay

The Dog Ate My Homework

The Dog Ate My Homework   “There are a thousand excuses for every failure but never a good reason.” – Mark Twain The Dog Ate My Homework IF YOU”RE FEELING  a little emotionally fragile, you may want to read this one later. Or never. Don’t say you weren’t warned. I have a confession to make… I’m sick and tired of people’s whining, complaining, rationalizing and justifying why their life is a succession of unfinished endeavors. People who have lost and regained weight like a yoyo on steroids…people who start projects but never bring them to a finish…people with the highest intentions and who deliver the lowest of results…YET they’re still looking for a quick fix, an easy solution, a silver bullet. As the creator of the 100 Day Challenge and someone who is constantly dealing with people who want to create positive change in their life (relationships, finances, career, health, appearance, attitude, lifestyle, etc.), I hear way too many excuses. As a rule, I have mo

So THAT'S Why Your Hangovers Get Worse As You Get Older

There’s one aspect of growing older that does not age like a fine wine: Hangovers . If you’ve ever been on the wrong side of a long night out after, say, age 29, you don’t need to be told. You feel both baffled about and nostalgic for a time, just a few years ago, when you could have one too many and wake up early, bright eyed and ready for spin class. What gives?  While the science of the phenomenon ― and how to make it better ― is still difficult for researchers to pin down , experts have some theories as to why your body just can’t handle sharing a pitcher of margaritas anymore: Theory 1: Your have fewer liver enzymes. Let’s start: Alcohol is a toxicant, so when you drink it, your body has to break down and shed the toxic compound of ethanol . Enzymes in your liver are responsible for this process, turning the adult beverage you’ve consumed into a compound called acetaldehyde . An enzyme ― called aldehyde dehydrogenase ― is responsible for morphing aceta

Remember every effort counts.

On This Day 2nd March,2017 I started my volunteering journey. I taught (Compound Shapes/Perimeters) to over 50 Primary 5 students at the ( Ikota Primary School). I believe you don't have to have all the money in the world to touch lives. Only through A Service To Many shall greatness be achieved. Remember every effort counts. Christopher Ahonsi

The English premiership and it's many uncertainties

The English premier league and it's many uncertainties  When Manchester United filed out against AFC Bournemouth  on Saturday , it was presumably a David and Goliath affair, for many reasons, the visitors were seen as an outsider and we're always going to lose, regardless of whatever they put up in fight. Situations conjured negativity for the Cherries early on, just before kickoff, Eddie Howe, Bournemouth manager was ruled out of possible contact with players due to a sudden flu and Tindall, assistant manager took over, the young deputy was filling in on such big day at a ground where they've never scored from their own boots nor picked a single point in their history. With Rostov up in midweek, Jose Mourinho made four chan ges to the team that triumphed at Wembley, handing Luke Shaw his first start since September and Wayne Rooney his first league start of the two month old year, United went in hard and Marcos Rojo directed a dangerous Valencia shot in for th
